Frederick Ings, High River area, Alberta.
Born and raised in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Fred Ings spent much of his youth in England, Spain and on the sea. In 1882 he moved to the west, where he worked moving cattle into the mountains to supply camps of Canadian Pacific Railway surveyors and engineers. In 1883 he purchased a ranch on the north fork of the Highwood River and continued to operate it, in partnership with his brother Walter, until 1902. In 1902 Ings purchased an old stopping place of Mosquito Creek and established the Midway Ranch which he ran until his death in 1936. Same as NA-3627-27.
