Structural morphologies of Sulphur Mountain
Sulphur Mountain is located in Banff National Park and is well known for being home to two major research facilities in Canada. These images overlook several of the mountain landscapes at Sulphur Mountain. The yellow marker in image A-1 shows a distinct stratigraphic boundary from a sudden change in sediment deposition and the red markers are indicative of tilting. B-1 highlights the structural feature of folding. C-1 highlights uplift, differential erosion and tilting. The U-shaped valley in image F is representative of a glacial valley. Images A through I all highlight stratigraphic deformations common during orogenesis due to plate convergence.
