The coulee attracted Tom Usher and Charlie Usher as they sought a home in 1904 as it offered fine shelter, springs, and a clear running stream; this view shows the barn and employees' buildings at the top of the coulee; the open patch beside the creek in the middle of the picture was the location of the original barn and pens and was directly below the original log shack (just below where cows are pictured).
