The men appear to be dressed for a party or special occasion, possibly New Year's Eve. Note Fairbairn holding a buggy whip and Moodie wearing a Scottish kilt and accessories. Moodie was born and grew up in Quebec City where his grandfather, Matthew Moodie, had immigrated from Glasgow, Scotland in 1834. He lived in Kaslo from 1896 to 1899.
