Usher; the soil grew excellent crops due to the sandy soil which was cultivated each year and fertilized with manure periodically; note windmill over well in background; the vegetable garden was irrigated from a large water reservoir located uphill of the garden (behind the fire guard) and diverted in underground pipes to the garden edge.
