MONDAY, JUNE 30, 1958 THE TIMES, DELBURNE, ALBERTA W.1. Constit. Conference In Elnora The 37th conference of the Red Deer East Constituency was held in Elnora community hall, Satur- day. June 7 at 10 a.m. This year's conference was in the form of a workshop project and as many members as possible participated in conducting of the conference. Chairman for the day was Mrs. J. Smith, Lousana, constituency convenor, and Mrs. F. T. Green Was secretary. Guest speaker was Mis. M. G. Roberts, Drumheller, District Director, was present and the handicraft was judged by Miss Arlene Nefson, district home ec- onomist, Red Deer, assisted by Miss Corneligin of Red Deer com- posite high school and Miss Mari- lyn Dent. Secretaries reports were given as a panel discussion by Mrs. C. Collins of Elnora, Mrs. T. Blair of Huxley; Mrs. H. Gonga- ware of Delburne, and Mrs. Les. Ancion for Mrs. Watson of Lou- sana. Standing committee reports were given in the same manner by a panel of eight: Mrs. Silber- nagel, home economics; Mrs. R. Winther, handicraft; Mrs. F. T. Green, citizenship; Mrs. T. Blair, ducation; Mrs. D. Boyden, social services; Mrs. H. Gongaware, ag- rieulture: Mrs. C. Collins for Mrs, O. Cheek, U.N.; and Mrs. Colley for Mrs. Maxwell, health. Miss Jean Jestin, Delburne, con- ducted the resolution committee and presented four resolutions : One, that reports correspond to calendar year was defeated; oth- ers referring to useless toys in boxed food products and other in regard to premiums in large soap and detergent boxes making a loss of weight of product were carried and forwarded to C.A.C Fourth, asked that more string- ent measures be taken against traffic violators found to be under the influence of liquor was passed. A motion asking that conven- ors of standing committees of each W.I. be appointed after each conference, was passed. Jestin, Mrs. C. Collins, Mrs. W. S. Clark. Winners of hampers for white cake were: Mrs. W. Earl and Mrs. Allan Winthers. W.I. June Meetings Delburne held their June meet- ing one week earlier as the con- ference fell on their usual day. Roll call: How to Keep Healthy. Miss J. Jestin was appointed as chairman of the resolution com- mittee and a resolution for con- ference was approved. Paper on Agriculture by Mrs. H. Gonga- ware on the Vegetable Oils Indus- try. ACADIA planned a bake sale and a raffle of the quilt recently completed. Two members will go to Olds Rest Week. ELNORA: roll call: an article on U.N.; most of those read re- lated to Canada. A personal letter had been received from Dr. Hitch- manova, explaining how she hyd personally looked into the matter of the selling of Unitarian Ser- vice material, and none of it is ever sold.
