William B. Fraser reading a book, Calgary, Alberta.

William Bernard 'Bill' Fraser, 1921-1997, was born near Winnipeg, Manitoba. He serve in the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War, then lived in Toronto, Ontario for several years. He subsequently moved to Calgary, Alberta and worked as a free-lance writer, author, newspaper columnist, commercial artist, and radio commentator. He did editorial cartoons for the Albertan newspaper for two years in the 1960s. Much of his writing pertained to western Canadian history and First Nations. He was the author of Always a Strathcona. -- [Calgary] : Comprint, 1976; Big Bear, Indian Patriot. -- Calgary, Alta. : Historical Society of Alberta, 1966; and Calgary, 1867-1967. -- Calgary : Calgary Public School Local of the Alberta Teacher's Association, 1967. He had two children, Evelyn (Polczer) and Donald Fraser.
