Gerioux, a Cree man from Lesser Slave Lake, moved to the Stoney Reserve in 1944, married a Stoney woman and left the reserve in 1952 when they enfranchised. At the time of the photograph the family was living in a tent near Cochrane without work and the children did not attend school.
