John Egan Kennedy in Lord Strathcona's Horse, Montreal, Quebec.
John Egan Kennedy, 1874-1945, was born in Chapeau, Quebec and raised in Mattawa, Ontario. He began working for railways and by 1897 had arrived in Cranbrook, British Columbia. In 1900 he enlisted in Lord Strathcona's Horse and served in South Africa. He eventually returned to Cranbrook where he was an accountant with the Canadian Pacific Railway. He later worked for Burns in Lethbridge and the City Cartage Company. He was an alderman in Cranbrook for two years, 1913-1915, and became a well-known local business operator. Later Kennedy was a homestead inspector and mining recorder. Studio portrait.
