Hand tinted (colour) lantern slide collected and used by Tex Vernon-Wood, hunting guide and outfitter in the Canadian Rockies. Memorial erected to Sir James Hector. Marker built in 1880s and trains often stopped so tourists could visit. Torn down in 1920s or 1930s. Small trenches diverting water to Atlantic and Pacific still in existence, overgrown by brush (2013).
