This was James Scofield's second store in Pincher Creek. James Schofield opened the first store in Pincher Creek in 1883, and two years later took in Harry Hyde as partner. Mr. Hyde was later the first postmaster and first banker. The store sold to the Hudson's Bay Company in 1887, they retained Mr. Hyde as manager.
