Members of William Carson family who occupied house from 1898-1902 in front. L-R: Evelyn Carson; Mrs. William Carson; Jim Carson, in front; Harold Carson; Miss Rachel Coutts, teacher; Graham Carson, cousin; Grace Carson. This sandstone house was built in 1891 for lawyer J. B.Smith [James Bruce Smith], and briefly occupied by Colonel James F. Macleod until he died in 1894. The house was demolished in 1957, but has been recreated at Heritage Park. Copied from 'Picturesque Calgary', 1900, p. 44.
