Schmaltz family emigrated from Russia in 1892 and settled in Beiseker in 1907. L-R: Carl Selzler, bartender; Ludwig Schmaltz; Julianna Schmaltz; Iphrosina Schmaltz; Balthasar Schleppe; Frances Schmaltz; Carl Ternes. The bride's dress was royal blue, while the bridesmaids wore white. The men with flowers around their hats were the bestmen. Their duty was to invite all the guests, and to see that everyone had a good time at the wedding dance. This was done by waving the white whip which one of the bestmen is holding.
