Portrait of Sir Cecil Denny, North West Mounted Police veteran.
Cecil was born in Hampshire, England in 1850 and emigrated to the Chicago area in 1869 where his father had bought him a farm. In 1874 he joined the North West Mounted Police, serving until 1884. He served in the Riel Rebellion then as an Indian Agent. In 1922 he was appointed Provincial Archivist of Alberta, which post he held until 1927.
