Closure at 'A' anchor, at the Kemano-Kitimat transmission line. British Columbia.
In January, 1955, heavy snow slides from the rim of Glacier Creel Bowl wiped out three towers and damaged others in Kemano-Kitimat transmission line. The solution was to eliminate all towers for a span of about 7,000 feet by lifting this section of both transmission lines by a cross-catenary system of steel cables, suspended from anchors high on the mountains. Rope tension of about 40 tons. Connector plates blocked into position and bolts adjusted prior to attachment of main ropes.
