Ambroise Dydime Lepine, Metis leader and son.
From Tintype. Ambroisen Lepine was born at St. Vital, son of French-Canadian father and Metis mother. Adjutant-general in Riel's provisional government, 1869-1870. Presided over court marital that sentenced Thomas Scott to death and in 1873 tried for complicity and sentenced to death. Sentence commuted to two years imprisionment and loss of civil rights. Died at St. Boniface, Manitoba, June 8, 1923.
