Walter Youngman, surveyor and engineer.
Studio portrait. Born in London, Walter Youngman came to Canada in 1904. He first farmed and then worked as a surveyor and engineer for the National Transcontinental Railway. He served in both the South African War and First World War. Later Youngman was chief engineer in charge of highway maintenance and construction for the Manitoba government. He was called out of retirement to work as the federal government supervising engineer on the Trans-Canada highway.
