Back row, L-R: Joe Brown; Ed Gearheart; Silas Milton Griffiths (Wild Bill). Seated, Jack Teegarden. Griffiths homesteaded 17 miles south west of Nanton. Ed Gearheart, born in Missouri in 1878, moved to the Nanton area in 1909. For several years he was a school teacher, and then worked as a store clerk. He died in Port Hammond, British Columbia, in 1951. Joe Brown homesteaded in the Kuntz Creek area. He and his wife moved to Appledale, British Columbia, in 1914. John Teegarden homesteaded in the MacEwan district in 1905 and was postmaster 1912-17.
