Mrs. James (Margaret) Ford, Nanton area, Alberta.
With her son (Nelson) on left, and daughter (Francis) on right. James Ford was born in Quebec in 1859 and moved as a young man to Montana. There he struck it rich in the 'Hudson' a gold mine near Silver Star, Montana. In 1885 he married Margaret Edwards and they had five children. At the turn of the century they established the L4L Ranch near Nanton. James Ford died in 1907, and Mrs. Ford continued running the ranch for several years. She later settled on another ranch in the Grand Valley district near Cochrane. Known as the McKay house it is part of Heritage Park.
