Nurse Sarah Persis Johnson, Brandon, Manitoba.
Shown wearing service uniform of Canadian army medical nursing sister. Nurse Johnson graduated from Brandon General Hospital in 1911. She was instrumental in gaining registration of nurses. During First World War she served in Britain, France and Germany and was awarded and Order of the British Empire and Royal Red Cross for war services. On her return to Canada she became superintendent of nurses at Brandon and from 1936-1953 was Dean of Women at Brandon College. She was awarded Doctor of Laws in 1970.
