Calgary Elks Win Savage Trophy from Olds Curlers The Olds Elks curlers who had won the Savage trophy, emblematic of the Elks curling championship early in the winter afd had successfully defended it on three different occasions, put the ‘trophy up for play. at the conclusion of the Calgary Elks War Gavings bon- spiel last week, and lost out in. the finals to Calgary Lodge: No. 2, by a score of 30-20. Olds curlers received a bye and then disposed of Acme in the second draw by a score of 20-15 to reach the finals. In the Acme games. John Currie’s rink. was down 10-0 before they be- came accustomed to tue artificial ice, but they staged a real come-back to win out. Warren Kemp also skipped his rink to victory over ACM, but both skippers dropped their gamés to Cal- gary. Competition in the Savage tro- phy is a double-rink event of 14 ends. Work on Olds Golf Course Going Ahead Rapidly Work is going ahead rapidly on the new golf course. It is expected that the greens will be all ready for sand- ing in a few days.
