a Wednesday, March 38, 1982 letters to the editor letter to the editor Dear Sir: Natural pure water is almost impossible to find anywhere in the world today. Even rain water is impure, because it washes out the polluted atmosphere and arrives on earth as acid rain. Many well waters are also heavily loaded with inorganic minerals, which are now being questioned and challenged as to whether they do the human body any good in their dead form. Many, if not all, of these inorganic minerals are toxic. Besides this, city water goes through water treatment plants where more chemicals are added and asbestos pipes are used for the conveyance of the chemical cocktail mistakenly called water . River water is considered to be the worst source of water for drinking. This is because sewage, industrial wastes, chemicals in the form of agricultual sprays (fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides) barnyard wastes and dead animals are being found in our rivers. : Ralph Nader has stated that a million pounds of mercury are thrown into the waterways every year. The mercury decom- poses and is consumed by the fish. Likewise with oil: the oil breaks down and is also consumed by the fish. He goes on to sav that our water is increasingly loaded with heavy metal traces like cadium, zinc. lead and arsenic (used in detergents). It has also been said that there are 15,000 known chemicals and 500 are added yearly. What a chemical con- cotion Notwithstanding, we use water every day; from the baby's first cry to the old man s last breath. Water is one element we need the most yet suspect the least Five percent of our bodies is air. Ap- proximately 25 per cent consists of solids, while the remaining 70 per cent is water; of which we eliminate aproxirhately a gallon daily. Now if this elimination is never replaced by pure water (H20) by a a medicated cocktail, we can become sick. Thus today multitudes suffer from emphysema, cancer, kid- ney ailments, liver disease, arthritis, catarac- ts, diabetes, gall stones, glaucoma, hardening of the arteries, loss of hearing and obesity. Our brains gradually turn to stone and our bodies seize up and fail to function, subjecting us to heart at- tacks, strokes, sciatica, and rheumatism. Thus the most important substance on earth is pure water (H20). Our existence depends upon it. The average adult contains approximately 45 quarts of water and loses 3'z quarts daily. Our body temperatures are con- trolled through water. Dr. Banik says pure water (H20) is obtained by distillation (not by filtration). It is the greatest solvent on earth . By its continued use, it is possible to dissolve AALR.N. Linda Flatla, speech pathologist, was guest speaker at the A.A.R.N. March 8th meeting in Olds. Her interesting presentation on Aphasia, impairment of language ability, receptive and expressive which is usually associated with strokes , was enjoyed by the 16 members present. During the business session, it was decided to have a garage sale in Sep- tember to finance the bur- sary given yearly to a High School student graduate entering the nur- sing profession. Members were encour- aged.to attend all or part of the Convention, April 20-23 at the Convention Centre in Calgary. Honorariums were presented by Annie Pringle to 3 members of the Chapter for years of news service. Beulah Gilson, 10 years, Olive Stauffer, 15 years, and Grace White, . 20 years. The next meeting will be one week early, on Mon- day, April 5th, in the Assembly Room of the Didsbury Auxiliary Hospital at 8 p,m. Guest speaker will be Beth Hourie, Program Worker, Mountain View Association for the Men- tally Handicapped. All nurses welcome. There is ales? are helping us findit. Pure water will leach out toxic inorganic minerals, yet leave the organic minerals behind Our bodies require pure water (H20) but it must be chemically pure water (two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen to every molecule of water). Pure water is a flushing agent, and a solvent. Pure water comes from fresh fruit and vegetables, and from distilled water made nature s way (the hydrologic cycle) by the steam distillation process. Pure water is free from all inorganic minerals, thus it is the perfect liquid for the blood. It has no additives, no chemicals (not even silver) and no medication. Therefore it is ideal for the juice, efficient functioning of the kidneys, lungs, stomach, liver and other organs. It is so pure that all liquid drug prescriptions are formulated with distilled water. that the human body can use only organic live minerals: minerals that are transformed by a plant. All other- minerals (i.e. inorganic minerals) are suspected of causing hardness, stiffness and sediments, as well as pre- mature aging. It is now evident that water can. bring you vibrant good health, or rob you of it Thus for health, and other reasons, every person in the world has a democratic right to pure clean drinking and cooking water. Then how come that we often draw a dirty coloured) medicated tail f mune Gazette cocktail from our kitchen taps, that stinks and letter to tastes terrible? Surely, unless our tap water is the editor high rise fractionally Dear Sir, distilled it is hazardous to our health if given enough time. No amount of chemicalization or bac- teriostatic filtration can eliminate these dangerous qualities now evident in the tap and well waters. Only by proper distillation and cooling can all solids and gases (such as Chlorine and Trihalomethanes) be eliminated from our drinking water. One last. point; pure water reads zero parts per million, but some city water may read 250 P.P.M., and as much as 500 P.P.M. and higher outside a city. With water supplies being so far from pure it is better to drink a glass of orange which has more organic minerals in it, than 30 gallons of raw water Sincerely, Douglas W. Helm Red. Deer I hope you will print this letter in your paper. After the recent by-election, I read a newspaper article which said you were anti- W.C.C. - and amused of their win. I m not amused. I am thoroughly disgusted that people of their ilk can sit in the Legislature. Most of them are first or second generation Canadians of European or Anglo-Saxon extraction who would probably be on welfare in their homeland. They don t have the sense to realize they live in the best country in the world. I ve travelled to some 30- 35 countries and I know.
