A Prominent Canadian citizen I would like to meet. Mrs. Grace Johnson gave her paper on United Nations on the Philippines. Mrs. Margaret Wheat Board s ordinary credit line increased OTTAWA: Senator Hazen Argue, minister respon- sible for the Canadian Wheat Board, said last week cabinet has agreed to increase its guarantee of the board s ordinary line of operating credit to 550 million from 400 million. Senator Argue said the increase is required because of the large in- crease in the volume of business being done by the board and is further evidence of the magnitude of board sales. The Government of Canada provides massive support to western grain producers through the provision of operating and export credits. The federal government is guaran- teeing some 2 billion in. export credit alone. In addition to export credit guarantees, the federal government guarantees day to day credit needs for such things as initial payments to far- mers, interest free cash advances and other board activities. He said federal con- tributions to the grains industry go well beyond credit guarantees. In rail transportation, the federal treasury has paid 971.3 million for branch line sub- sidies since 1971, 282 million for 10,000 hopper cars.and 400 million plus for rail line rehabilitation since 1977. In these days of talk of western separatism, the government s record of support for orderly grain marketing in western Canada proves the federal government s commitment to the world s most suc- cessful grain marketing Olds Lions Club Hawaiian Nite Friday, April 23, 1982 Legion Hall, Olds Music by Action Faction 35.00 Per Couple Tickets Available from Lion Members 11-2tc Carstairs School. Senator Argue said the Canadian Wheat Board system is a partnership between the grain pro- ducers of western Canada and the Government of Canada. The Canadian Wheat Board system has been very effective in marketing virtually all of last year s record crop production at the best possible prices. Tt is worth noting that the Intenational Wheat Council statistics indicate that the wheat board gets Canadian producers the best prices in the world. Greyhound ordered to. pay Small claims court in Olds has ordered that Grey- hound Bus lines re mburse an Olds College student for luggage lost in 1980. A Feb. 24 court ruled in favor of Tena Blair, 19, awarding her 500 for the loss of one piece of luggage and its contents. Grey- hound was also ordered to pay all related legal costs. Blair s claim stems from an incident on Oct. 3, 1980 when she boarded a bus in Olds on her way to Wetas- kiwin. She somehow got separated from her suitcase when transferring buses in Red Deer, she told the Gazette last week. At the time, there was no perm- anent bus depot in town and the student was picked up by the bus in front of Olds College on Hwy. 2A. She was advised by the bus driver, she said, to pur- chase a ticket for herself and the tags for her lug- in Red Deer for the second leg of her journey.
