Refreshments will be served and visitors will be treated to music and drama presentations. obituaries obituary Mr. Otto Knecht, of Olds, passed away in the Olds Municipal Hospital on Friday, May 27, 1983 at the age of 81 years. He was born December 10, 1901 in Mayton, Alber- ta to Andrew and Selma Knecht, who immigrated from Kulm, North Dakota, to homestead in the Mayton district in 1901. In 1924 he married Ellen Mc- Fadyen of Innisfail with Reverend Peter Fisher officiating. Mr. & Mrs. Knecht farmed sin the Mayten district -untit 1942 when they— - moved to the Lone Pine district, where they continued to farm until retiring to Olds in 1962. Always active in spor- ts, Mr. Knecht managed the Torrington Aces and Reed Ranch Ball Clubs; served on the executive of the Olds Elks Hockey Club; curled actively until 1982 and thoroughly enjoyed the sport of fishing for the past 20 years. In ad- dition, Mr. Knecht was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Ellen of Olds; son, Don and his wife, Joyce of Calgary; son, Gordon and his wife Joy of Revelstoke, B.C.; son, Bob and his wife Ileen of Calgary; daughter, Margaret and her husband Charles Rosehill of Olds; daughter, Beth of Calgary; son Norman and his wife Pat of Calgary; eleven gran- dchildren and ten great grandchildren, and six sisters. Mr. Knecht was predeceased by three brothers ‘and. two sisters. Funeral Chapels en- trusted with arrangements. obituary Mr. James Arthur Peters of Olds, passed away after a lengthy illness at the Olds Municipal Hospital on Sunday, May 29, 1983 at the age of 51 years. Mr. Peters was born on July 19, 1931 in Wetaskwin, . Alberta. As a young adult he lived and worked in Camrose where he was very active as a musician with Swing Four-Orchestra, - playing for Pallbearers were Ran- country dances. From 1971 to 1976 he worked for Pioneer Grain — at Rosetown, Eston and Isham, Saskatchewan. In 1976, the family moved to Olds where Mr. Peters resided until his passing. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Bernice; one son, Kevin and one daughter, Shannon, all of Olds; one gran- ddaughter, Amanda in Cranbrook, B.C.; and two sisters, Betty Lorimer’ of Victoria, B.C. and Eileen Miller of Olds. Mr. Peters was predeceased by one son, Gregory, in 1963. Pallbearers were Mer- vin Van Slyke, Arthur Kushnerick, William Wade, Tom Zarski, Vernon Mizera and Ferruccio Gardin. Funeral services were held from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Camrose, on Wed- nesday, June 1, 1983 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Van Alstime officiating. Interment followed in the Camrose cemetery. He was born in Didsbury on December 8, 1902 and moved with his family eight miles southwest of Carstairs in. the spring of 1903 where he lived and farmed until he and his wife retired to Didsbury in the fall The Gazette of 1973. He married Maude Elizabeth Wilson on June 9, 1930. Mr. Bales leaves to mourn his loving wife, Maude of Bow Crest Nursing Home in Calgary; son Frank and his wife, Gathel of Car- stairs; two daughters, Helen and her husband Ron Shingleton of Olds and Irene and her husband, Bob Rowntree of Carstairs; one brother, George or Car- stairs and a sister, An- nie of Red Deer; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren; nine nephews and ten nieces.
