Besides his loving wife, Mr. Gill is sur- vived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Claire and Isobel, and Mervyn, all of Calgary; one daughter Betty Doherty of Acme; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred and Ida, Reuben and Emily, all of Olds, Kaleb and Elsie of , and one sister, Inez Carr, also of Cal- gary. Mr. Gill was pre deceased by one brother, Dave, and an infant sister. Mr. Gill was born in Irvine, Alberta on February 3rd, 1909, and moved with his family to the Mayton district, east of Olds, in 1919. On December 2nd, 1932 he married Mar- tha Keim and they farmed in the Lone Pine district east of Dids- bury for six years, then moved to the Green Acres district, west of Acme, and continued to farm there for 32 years. In the fall of 1971 Niel and Martha semi- retired to Pentiction, B.C., and returned to Calgary in 1981. Funeral services were held at Acme United Church, Acme, Alberta on Friday, July 10th, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Stan Bessie of- ficiated. Interment followed in the Acme Cemetery, Acme, Alberta. Telephone 276-2296. obituaries obituary Gans Mr. Christine Gans of Olds passed away in the Olds General Hospital on Wed- nesday, July 8, 1987 at the age of 84 years. She was born in Romania on January 31, 1903 to Jacob and Barbara . Koch. She came with her family in 1906 to Trochu, Alberta. In 1926 she married Charles Gans. In 19385. they moved to a farm in the Mayton district. Mrs. Gans took up residence in Olds in by a son in infancy and her husband Charles in 1952. She is survived by one son Evan and his wife Violet of Olds; two daughters, Eileen and her husband Mac Munro of Rocanville, Saskatchewan; Betty Lou and her husband Gary Place of Saskatoon, Saskat- 11, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Lutheran Church, Olds with Pastor Wil Porat officiating. Interment followed in the Olds Cemetery. Pallbearers were Doug Gans, David Munro, Rob Notley, Brent Strong, David Place and Ross Dalget- ty. Dodd of the Harmattan district, passed away in the Olds Hospital on Sunday, July 5, 1987 at the age of 84 years. He was born in St. Paul, Nebraska on November 6, 1902, and moved with his parents and younger brother, Elmer to the Olds district in 1904. Paul s. Bill spent his early years working on his parents farm, one mile east, and one mile north of Olds. He finished high school, then atten- ded the Olds College for one year, before becoming a full time farmer. He married Eva Ross Rollins. on March 19, 1924, and they farmed in the Samis district, until Eva s untimely death, on November 23, 1928. From this union, born. Bill and his children then moved back to his parents farm. A number of years later, Barbara Lolita Bryant came from Sundre to work for Mother Dodd on the farm. Bill and Barbara were. married on the 27th of February, 1937. They, with Dan and Marie, farmed in Olds district until spring of 1940, when they moved to the Harmattan area to farm for the next 47 years. From this marriage, six children were born, Dale Ed- ward, Glen Reed, Wilma Darlene, Gary Alan, Brian Evan Kerry Dean. Due to Bill s failing health, they moved to Olds in the spring of 1986. Bill was predeceased by his father, mother, sister Esther Kuehn; one grandson, Rick Dodd. He is survived by his ife, Barbara and eight children, 18 grandchild- ren; 16 great grand- children. Also, his brothers, Elmer, Ralph, Alfred, Leslie and Chester; sister, Hazel Ross and several Funeral services were held Thursday, July 9 1987 at 2:00 p.m. from the Olds United Church with Reverend Michael Stol officiating.
