Roofing of the church has been completed on the south and west sides, and the north will be done as soon as the chimney is completed. The new brick chimney will serve both the furnace and the kitchen stoves. Ltd. Olds, 1 Ralph Scriven, Manager basin will give you many hours of BY. HUGH McPHAIL In my article last week I. very briefly tried to show the desperate need of doing something to stop water and wind erosion, and to maintain the fertility and condition of the’ soil. Since writing that, we have suf- fered a very severe dust storm. Some of the good top soil base left farms for unknown destinations. Roadside ditches have been filled, crops have. been cut off or buried. This surely brings home to all of us that soil conservation may be our: most im- portant problem. I believe the following poem sums up the situation very well: “The Lord God Gave man the land, Not only to subdue, But also to replenish His the long enduring task, Plenty to provide And lasting peace establish. His, alone, the toil, His, the. power to know, The land, the seed, The wind, the driving rain, And while supplying every need, Preserve the sacred soil or all mankind. To leave the land A better land, For those who tread the fields He oft has trod, Makes him part-maker Of his destiny; Makes him a laborer g Yes, that’s right.
