Bagnall Elks Retu Junior Style Olds and district hockey fans will have a real treat.in store for them Saturday evening when a double header hockey game will be played at the local ice palace. The first game will see the Olds Juveniles, 1964-65 Highway 2 Juv- enile League ‘Champions, and cur- rently in first place again this sea- ‘son, tangle with the CFAC. 960’s, a Junior B club out of Calgary. The second game will see the Calgary Buffaloes and the Okotoks Oilers do battle. B top the Al- berta Junior Hockey League with a 23-1-2-record while the Oilers are undefeated in the Big Six League, having won eight and tied two. 1 . » » In Olds Saturday Vern Fox, a 19-year-old Innisfail product, will be in the starting) lineup for the CFAC 960’s when | they tangle with the Olds Juveniles Saturday night in Olds at 6:30 p.m. Fox, one of the Assistant Cap- tains of the 960’s, is playing his second years with the club. Last year he was named “The Most Ef- fective Defenceman” in the Cal- gary circuit, rn - | The first game will get underway at 6:30 p.m. with the second slated for 9 p.m. The Olds Juveniles will. wear ithe Olds Elks uniforms for the ‘contest against the 960’s and this game should be a real treat for hockey fans of all ages who enjoy seeing young, fast lads play a |sharp, fast-skating, hard-hitting | brand of hockey. Juvenile coach, | Howie Lacombe, says that his club will be beefed up somewhat by the |addition of a few of last year’s | graduates from his championship team. These include George Stev-| ens, Wayne Notley, Jack eras, Bert Coonfer, Corey Elliott and Wes Davis, Notley, Davis and Coonfer are currently starring with the Olds Bees in the Chinook Hock- ey League and Elliott has been toiling with the CFAC 960’s. Stan Jaycock, 960’s coach, gave Elliott permission to play with his old teammates for this game. Other local lads to see action include starry Don Clark, Duncan Stuart and Don Ehrhardt; hard- hitting rear-guards Ken Dow and Dennis Moritz and snipers Trevor Stott, Wayne Cruickshank and Steve Richardson. Montgomery, Harper, Shear, Johnson and Bart- ley will also be in the Olds line- up. : The second game pits a junior club against an intermediate team and will, undoubtedly, provide for a thrilling contest. Both the Calgary clubs have a good following as do the Oilers and a large turn-out is expected from these centres, The fans in Olds could well do themselves proud by turning out in droves this Saturday evening and support- exhibition hockey at its best. Admission for the evening will be 75¢ for adults; 35¢ for students and under 12 will be admitted free. Proceeds from the evening will be poured into the Olds Recreation Board for use by minor hockey. Right now we're hoping for a break in the cold weather and if this happens, we'll see you all at the Olds Arena Saturday night. Advance tickets may be purchas- ed at the Public Lunch, Jensen’s Men’s Wear and other business places in Olds. — :'Pekse, McDonald County Organization Meeting Held Vice-Chairman’ — N.
