Construction of Canadian National Railways bridge over Red Deer River, Steveville, Alberta.
This photo was taken from the south side of Red Deer River and shows the beginnings of construction on the railway bridge at Steveville. This bridge was never completed for the use of rail traffic, as a decision was made to halt construction of the Hanna - Medicine Hat Branch line. Local residents crossed this bridge on foot for a time, and the piers were eventually used to support a highway bridge on Alberta Secondary Highway number 876., the present day Steveville bridge.
