However, till this is well un- der way, we thought the commun- ity might be interested in two letters received by the students this week. Our Foster Child sends this letter. He is in grade three. “Dear Foster Parents: How, are you getting on these days? Here I, my mother, two of my younger sisters and my young- er brother are all well and getting along very well owing to your Here, in Korea, there are a great flood and-I can’t play well ‘outdoors. And I have studied hard for the first term. So my school marks were good. I got 90 marks in Korean Language, 100 marks in Arithmatic, over 70 in other sub- jects. This month again we received your monthly grant of 2,192 won ($8.00), a laundry basin, a shirt and a pair of pants, with many thanks. Hoping that you are all happy and in good health. I am closing for now. Fondly, 11 Sang.” The second letter came ‘as a re- the school for Care of Canada. It explains itself. “Dear Brothers and Sisters. I am afraid lest you would be ness to you; we are very sorry for delaying acknowledgement _ be- cause it was difficult to find some- time ago Care gave us some pack- made for poor ones overseas.. Thank you very much for it from the bot- tom of our hearts. When we re- ceived it from you, with whom we are not acquainted year, we are thrilled and impressed by your warm kindness and sympathy. I would like to state that you did a good charity of the good Samari- tan who helped the dying person on the way to Jericho. I am sure the Lord bless.and reward you richly. In the meantime, this orphanage was founded me besi some help from others in December, 1954. ST. PAUL’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, Olds Sunday .-Schoo! and - Worship Service 10 a.m. FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH Sundre Worship Service and Sunday Schoo! | 11:15 am. sult of $162 raised last year in| There are, at present, 106 home- less children aged 5 to 19 years under my care. I have devoted my- self to bringing up those in des- perate need. However, as you know, there have been many changes and confusions frequently in politics and society of Korea with extreme- ly declining economy since Rhee’s regime. The more we have such happenings the more the deserted orphans have been disregarded. They are now badly suffering from lack of food in their lives. It is a heartbreak to see them whose stomachs are not filled with even plain food. A little from a small garden and some irregular dona- tions from several people over- seas are still less than our needs actually. The pitiful homeless children who live with us in the world have never known normal lives — only tragedy, fear and hunger. They need. help badly from others and also human love is required. It is tearful that there are still starv- ing kids, in desperate need in corners of the world. If you have a pity upon.them and if you deter- mine to help them, your warm charity, regardless of amount, will save them from the extreme dis- tress, and will cheer up them to live strongly against the threats of Communism. Money may. be sent to this orphanage or you may: make a donation to Care with the name | of this orphanage. We are in Christian faith of Kor- ea and believe in God with you. Only our firm faith comforts our- selves among this distress. En- closed please find a picture of the kids and the houses they live in. Maeng Kyoo Kim”. ee aes one who helps translate. With best wishes to you. Bowden A.T.A. The October meeting of the Bow- den Sub-Local A.T.A. was held in the school library on Thursday, October 14, with Mr. G. Irvine, president, in the chair. Mrs. T. Pendergast was welcomed as a guest. Following the reading of the minutes and the treasurer’s report by the secrétary, Miss Svederus, Mr. Megli, representative to the Red Deer Local, presented his re- port. The A.T.A. project, “Devel- oping Long Range Plans”, has been apportioned among the sub-locals and Bowden will undertake the study of the topic, “Analysis of Present Day Organization and Ad- ministration of the Alberta Teach- ers’ Association”. Mr. Megli outlin- ed what is entailed in the study, and a committee consisting of Mr. Megli, chairman, Mr. Kinsella, and Mr. Wawrykow volunteered to di- vide it into units for research and presentation. The first presentation || is to be prepared for the Novem- ber meeting. A discussion on the merits of the handbook from the Local A.T.A. | brought the suggestion that future handbooks contain more informa- tion, and that copies be sent to the schools only, since the county does provide lists of teachers, Mr. & Mrs. Sick, representative to the Home and School Association, invited all teachers to attend the October meeting. The program will highlighted by a lawyer’s pres- entation of “The Legal Responsi- bilities of a Parent”. Mr. Kinsella had no report from the Economic Policy Committee, but asked that a period be set aside at the next meeting for complaints or suggested changes that could be handled by that committee. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Sick and Mrs. Tester. —_9——_—_ Anyone Interested COMING EVENT The Ladies Auxiliary to the Can- adian Legion are holding a bake sale at Builders Hardware on Sat- urday, November 6th. 42-2tp. ‘Stott’s Jewellery OLDS, ALTA.
