Mrs. Monna Munn sang a solo and then, on behalf of the gather- ing, wished Judy happiness in her marriage. \Assisted by Miss Brenda Mailer and Miss Sheila Hewitt, Judy open- ed her gifts, then thanked the lad- ies who had put on the shower as well..as all present. The ladies served a delicious lunch. Mrs. Watson, area representa- tive from Olds, was guest speaker at the Home and School on Tues- day evening, March 8. John Reid gave a seminar report on the Unit- ed Nations seminar held last Aug- ust in Edmonton. John, who had been sponsored by the Student Union, the A.T.A. and the Home and School, gave a most interest- ing resume of his time in Edmon- ton. Winners at the Woodman Whist Drive last Monday evening, March 14, were Mr. A. L. Hogg, Mr. John Klys, Mrs. Wm. Frizzell and Mrs. E. R. Wigg. Consolation prizes were | 84Ty given to Mrs. A. L. Hogg, Mr. Wm. Frizzell, Ken Whitlow and Mrs. Stan Haley. The next card game will be on March 28. Mr. and Mrs. John Spence and family of Bonanza spent the week- end of March 12 and 13 with Lu- cille’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Young. The Sewing Circle sponsored a shower for Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mon- cey in the Woodman Hall last Tuesday afternoon, March 15. The Our Monceys were showered with many gifts for which they expressed sin- cere appreciation. The ladies serv- ed a lovely lunch. The Board of Directors of the local Credit Union met last Mon- day evening, March 14th, in the office. They need the support of their members in “term deposits” in order to build their new office. The U.C.W. held a_ successful bake sale in Mr. Rose’s General Store on Friday afternoon, March 18. Mrs. Phyllis Hunt, Mrs. Gwen Thompson and Mrs. Lorna Gano were in charge ef the bake table. His Yorkshire Boar, 84W, was named grand champion and sold for $500. Another boar, 104W, was third in its class and sold at $350. The reserve champion boar and reserve champion sow were bred by Wert’s Lad 13V and were shown by M. Holmes of Wayne, Alberta. Mr. Van Wert had 4 entries in the show and sale — 2 boars and 2 females. The females were 5th and 7th in a large class. ge OLDS BANTAMS. WHIP CARSTAIRS 7-0 The Olds Bantams travelled to Carstairs last Gaturdiay- evening for an exhibition game with the Car- stairs Bantams and thoroughly trounced the southern dwellers by a 7-0 count. Jimmy. Kilpatrick and Rick Tay- lor paced the Olds attack with a pair of goals each. Singles were added by Jeff Walton, Brian John- son and Jimmy Jackson. The Olds Bantams, under coaches Jim Boyd and Jackie Botheras, are now getting ready for a tourna- ment in Calgary on April 15, 16 and 17, sponsored by the Calgary Old- timer’s Hockey Ass’n.
