Wohlberg, District Agriculturist, Box 250 Olds, Alta, 226-3331 Hog Deficiency Payments has few weeks in regard to Hog Defi- ciency Payments by the Agri- cultural Stabilization Board. A five dollar ($5.00) payment will be made on all market hogs with an index of 100 or great- er, to a maximum of 200 hogs. This is a standard $5 payment on all qualified hogs and is not prorated to weights or indexes. There is no payment on cull sows or boars. Considerable confusion The following information comes from the Alberta Hog Producers Marketing Board: “Two problems have arisen for Alberta Hog Producers”: 1. Some have failed to keep the C.D.A. Hog Carcass Gra- ding Certificates for hogs they sold for slaughter in 1971. 2. Many Alberta hogs in 1971, were sold on a live-weight basis, for export, and as a result, were not graded, The Alberta Hog Producers Marketing Board has contacted the Agricultural Stabilization Board in Ottawa, concerning these problems and ‘has estab- lished the following: 1. Producers who submit their claim, with the official C.D.- A. Hog Carcass Grading Certificates attached, will be paid immediately. 2. The Stabilization Board will recognize other records, such as the A.H.P.M.B. Sta- tement of Settlement, if a| producer has destroyed the | official Hog Cuareass Grad- ing Certificate. However, | payment will not be imme- | diate and will only be made when the _ Stabilization | Board is satisfied that the | submitted record or records | have not been submitted in duplicate. nw 3. LIVE HOGS exported for | slaughter, can be used in a) claim if a producer has not shipped enough graded hogs in 1971 to qualify for the 200 maximum. The A.H.P.- M.B. Statement of Settlé- | ment can be used in making a claim. Some percentage, which is not yet decided by the Stabilization Board, will | be allowed ‘for producers who use live hog sales in their claim. As a result, pro- ducers should attath en- ough live hog records to their claim to ensure maxi- mum qualification. Special Note: The Alberta Hog Producers Marketing Board will assist those Alberta producers, who have lost all record or any ne- cessary portion of their records required to make a claim. ON REQUEST, the A-H.P.M.B. will provide a summary record for all- hogs sold in 1971. Such re- cord will be accepted by the Stabitization Board in Ottawa, subject to late payment des- cribed above. Producers re- questing this summary record, must provide their complete accurate address and all names they sold hogs under in 1971. All requests for records from the A.H.P.M.B. must be made Before March 31st, 1972. Apptication forms are avail- able from your local collecting agency or from our office. me Sweetie Pie. “How about being our guinea pig?” _.,. : Bantam Tournament.
