KING Young People Gather Presbytery, numbering about fifty. gatheréd in convention at the United church, Olds, last Monday evening. Delegates were present from Innis- fail, Carstairs and Olds. The address of the session was given by Ernié Jater, of Calgary, and dealt with problems confronting youth. Rev. Hibbert, of Calgary, travelling secre- tary, was present in his official capa- city,.and passed on the greetings of other similar organizations in Alberta. The election of officers had the fol- lowing result: Hon. president, Rev. T. E. Armstrong, Olds; president, Florence Johnson, Carstairs; vice- president, Douglas Holeton, Olds; sec.-treas., Frances Trick, Carstairs; correspondent to. the ‘* Riveter,’’ Ormond. Phillipson, Didsbury; mis- sionary correspondent, Margaret Hanson, Olds; inter-union activities, Keith Miller, Innisfail; leadership training, Dick Stirling; Carstairs; program correspondent, imma Free- man, Innisfail. The elected ofticers will meet this week to arrange the year’s program of activities. cient Play “Are You a Mason” Postponed Sickness among the cast, diagnosed as a mild form of the ‘ flu,’’ but which possessed the required punch ‘to put about half the population of Olds to bed, was the cause of the postponement of the play ‘‘Are You a Mason.”’ This is of course a pity, as.the night of November 22nd, the night chosen for the performance, was ideal for the country people to make the trip to town to be highly entertained. The next dates chosen are December. 12th for the children and December 13th is the big night. Here's hoping that everybody will be on their feet-again-in orderto attend Olds biggest night. All signs point towards a bumper house. Don’t let the interest wane on account of the Pdstponement, a betier performance will be the result. OO —-—— Sweepstakes The management of the Arena picture shows takes pride in announc- ing the picture ‘‘Sweepstakes,”” which comes ‘to the Arena next Wednes- day.. There is a brand new twist, with the star Eddie Quillan as the jockey who rcde to lose though thou- sands backed him to win. The pic- ture shows the greatest race ever seen on a screen, and photographed at the famous Mexican racing resort, Agua Caliente. ‘‘Sweepstakes’’ is not wholly drama and there is com- edy second’ to none. Everybody likes a'racing picture. ieee ee at Miss \Wiletta Armstrong, who is studying at Calgary, was home for the week-end. “A Kiss for Cinderella” By Sir J, M° BARRIE PRESENTED BY The Students of The Olds High School In the High School Thursday, Dec. -1st 8:15 p.m. THIS very popular play written by one of the most distinguished playwrights of our time has a cast of forty people and will be an evening’s entertain- ment which young and old cannot afford to miss. THE STUDENTS HAVE been receiving advice and assistance from Mrs Haynes, who is in charge of the work being carried on by the De- partment of Extension of the University of Alberta through assistance derived from the Fine Arts Division of the Carnegie Trust Fund. Admission— General 35e Reserved Seats 5Oc Plan at Maybank’s Drug Store Young people of the Red Deer|™ | A Kiss for Cinderella All the schoo) children are in ecs- tasy over the play, “‘A Kiss for Cin- derella,’’ by J. M. Barrie, to be pre- sented in the gymnasium of the high school, by the high ‘sebool students, on Thursday, December Ist, com- mencing at 815 p.m. According to bills displayed in the store windows of town, the children’s night is ta be Wednesday, .Nov. 30th, the afore- mentioned date being specially for adults. The pay is. being produced in connection with the C&rnegie Trust fund, a fund set aside for the encouragement of presenting good plays by the young amateurs. A large cast is required for the pro- duction, and during rehearsals excel- lent young talent has been discovered which otherwise may never have heen revealed. We understand that the scenery specially adapted for the plav is to be shipped from Edmonton for the event, which will do much in creating the correct atmosphere of the production — Reserved seats will be in vogue and the plan is at the Maybank drug store, where seats may be selected and reserved. The cost of a reserved seat is 50 cents the general admission being set at 35 cents. All school-concerts are good but in our belief ‘'A Kiss for Cinde- rella’’ will outclass any previous high school entertainment. ——o.
