Wednesday, November 25, 1992 The Gazette ****. Olds 4-H multi Club news By Brad Ulry The Olds 4-H Club ecutive was appointed had their first regular for the upcoming year, meeting on November ' S president - Kelly 12th, 1992. The new ex- UIry. vice-president CDC 4-H Club report Jukebox Jive boss Richard Sayler hopes SplitFire sparkplugs will ignite country-wide interest. business hopes to spark interest by Darrell Stonehouse A new sparkplug which promises an increase in gas mileage and horse power with less environment harming emissions will be the backbone of a new business in Olds. Jukebox Jive Inc., which opened in Olds last month, owns the Canadian rights to the new SplitFire sparkplugs which they are marketing across the country. Company spokesman Richard Sayler says the plugs will increase gas mileage from five to 20 per cent while giving the vehicle more power and lowering emissions. Sayler says of the 40,000 sell of Split- Fires sold in Canada so far, only one set has been returned on their 30 day money back warranty. Arid that set was returned because the retailer sold the customer the wrong set of plugs, he says. The spark plugs, which feature an open split in the ground electrode on the plug, work by better exposing the spark to the air/fuel mixture in the combustion chamber, according to the company. This allows for more efficient combustion and, therefore. better power, fuel economy and lower emissions from unhurried fuel. Sayler says Jukebox Jive, which is owned by CanShore Exploration, has 14 distributors across Canada for the plugs and is in the process of setting up more. He says they have two salesmen covering B.C. and aAJberta and he covers Saskatchewan and Manitoba himself. While they have distributors in eastern Canada, they have yet to put a salesman there. Business has been good but we're walking it one step at a time. We're growing with the business, he says. Along with the plugs. Jukebox Jive also sells snowmobile parts and accessories to over 200 snowmobile dealers. Right now our business is split 50/50 between the snowmobile parts and the SplitFire sparkplugs. Sales of the plugs seem to come in runs where the snowmobile parts are steady, he says. Sayler, a long-time Olds resident, says he moved the company to Olds from Calgary because he got tired of running back and forth to the city. This place was available and it is much cheaper than being in Calgary. There is no added cost in our location in transportation costs either, he says. He says the odd name for the company is because, you guessed it, they used to sell juke boxes. We have over 2,000 CDs we're selling right now at wholesale prices for anyone who is interested, he says. Jukebox Jive, while being a warehouse, also sells retail SplitFire plugs and snowmobile parts and accessories.' They are located between Greenline Equipment and Broyce International on 50 Avenue in Olds. by Ashley Edwards The first meeting of the CDC 4-H Club was at Wrightside Holsteins.
