Wednesday, August 8, 1990 obituaries Witt Mrs. Regina Witt, of Olds, passed away at the Olds General Hospital on Saturday, July 28, 1990 at the age of 83 years. Regina Witt was born on April 20, 1907 to Johann and Regina Grunwald in 'White Russia. During her early years it seemed that time and again God miraculously undertook for Regina and her parents to keep them alive. During World War I her family experienced many hardships. Her father was taken away and served under forced labor in Siberia, while Regina's mother had to fend for them alone. Two of her sisters froze to death in a box car enroute to Siberia to try and find her father. At an early age Regina accepted Jesus as her Savior at the same time when her parents became Christians. At the age 13, she moved with her parents to Germany and began working in a cotton factory. In 1927, Regina and her parents and a brother, John, and sister, Susan, immigrated to Canada, settling in the Hilda, Alberta area. In 1931 she moved to Calgary to work and on February 21, 1935, she was united in marriage to David Witt and moved onto the farm where they lived for 55 years. God blessed this union with 5 children. Her faithful husband, David with whom she shared almost 55 and half years of marriage will miss his dear help mate. Mrs Witt also leaves to mourn her children, Walter and his wife, Selma of Olds; Walter's twin brother, William and his wife, Nelda of Lillooet, B.C.; a daughter, Eleanor and her husband, Irvin Reddicopp of Surrey, B.C.; a son, Arven and his wife, Sharon and another son, John and his wife, Jean, all of Calgary. She also leaves to mourn one sister, Susan Stahl and a brother, John Grunwald and his wife, Frieda of Medicine Hat. 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren will miss their grandmother and great grandmother. Since 1935, Regina Witt has been a faithful and supportive member of the East Olds Baptist Church. She was often referred to as a very special lady . She loved her Lord and His Church. She is fondly remembered for the many gallons of coffee she made at the church in the old copper boilers. She usually was one of the very first persons at church. She loved to entertain people and it always was a special privilege to have the German Bible Study Group in her home. Her friendliness, her sense of humor, her love for people and her faithfulness were special attributes. She was faithfully involved in the Women's Missionary Fellowship. She will be greatly missed by her husband, her children and their families, the friends in the community and the members and friends of the East Olds Baptist Church. May God grant special comfort to all as we celebrate, as we rejoice in the faith of one of God's dear children who has been victorious in life, and in death, and is now enjoying the rewards of her faithfulness to Jesus Christ. Having reached the age of 83 years, 3 months and 8 days, she went home to be with the Lord. We thank God for the precious memories of our dear Regina Witt. The last 3 weeks had been very difficult for her as she suffered from the effects of a severe stroke, but even in her trials she could say My help commeth from the Lord.
