Carleen Mueller 1,325, Saler X, 1276 lbs., Greenline Equipment Kevin Maetche, 1.29, Ride for Sight The public is welcome at all the events planned for the weekend and are encouraged to bring a cash donation to the park Fox says. At 2 p.m. there is a shine test in the form of a show and shine contest, where riders will rub their bikes until they reflect the sun. The contest is broken down into numerous categories such as: best road bike, best bike with side car, best bike with trailer and best sport bike Following the show and shine contest the bikers will try to bite the weenie , literally, Fox says. , Bite the wiener is a contest that pits a motorcyclist's skill against a mustard drenched wiener dangling from a rope, she said. The rider that wins is the rider that can bite off the most wiener, while driving by on their bikes. It's fun to watch, seeing a biker with mustard all over his face. Along with the wiener contest there is also an egg and spoon race and a boot race. The boot race is started when the entered cyclists fling their boots into a pile. The idea of the race is for the cyclist to first find their boot, then race back and sit on thor bike, Fax says. Rounding out Saturday there are barrel and alow races planned to take place at the park, the spokesperson said. Sunday the ride for sight begins to slowdown with the draw for a trip for two to the Caribbean, she says. The biker with 600 worth of donations will receive one ticket, she said, for every 500 they can get a ticket that will go into the draw. Previously the biker with the most donations would receive the prize, but Fax says that was the same person each year so they thought they would try something new. Throughout the weekend there will be displays at the park for the public to view. Pin- stripers, engravers, representatives of Honda of Canada and RP representatives will also be on hand for any questions on motorcycles or RP, she said. Fox said Olds has really helped the whole weekend happen. Olds has been the best town we've dealt with. The people involved with the Olds Lion's Club and the Agriculture Society have been an enormous assistance, she said. The Toronto-Dominion Bank of Olds is to count and record the. donation drive and the local detachment of the Boy Scouts are to be the weekend's clean-up crew, Fax said. Fox is hopeful that the motorcyclists will leave Olds with a favorable impression. We've not all skuzzie bums, we're not like 'Easy Rider' Fox said. There are very few like that (the media image). Now, bikers are called Rubbies - Rich Urban Bikers, she said proudly. For example the Christian Bikers are expected to ride in with the throng and are scheduled to put on a church service Sunday morning, she said. Fax said the Albertan contingent of the Ride for Sight's million dollar ride is prepared for any problems that may arise When 1,500 bikers gather - but none are expected. We've never had a problem (in the past 10 years). Here. X, 1208 lbs.. Meyers Mens' Wear. Greg Roeenke - 1.30, Shorthorn, 1120 lbs., P. H. Fields. EAGLE HILL CLUB Dallas Blain - 1.25, Simm. All of us are born for a reason, but all of us don't discover why. Success in life has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. Its what you do for others. Danny Thomas John Palardy, president of the Olds Marlins Swim Club, accepts a cheque for 500 from Garnet Hammer, of the Olds Elks Lodge No. 100. The money will be used by the swim club to buy equipment and to cover some of their expenses. The Elks Lodge raised the money through bingo and other fund-raising activities. Lavonne Shewchuk of Olds was one of two 500 prize winners in the Olds College Foundations Stanley Cup Hockey Raffle. Her ticket time of 50 minutes, 59 seconds was three seconds off the cup-winning goal time of 51.02. She is pictured above with daughter Breann receiving her cheque from Olds College President, Dr. Dan Cornish. Midnight Madness succeeds Shoppers went mad for special prices until midnight Friday night and according to all sources Midnight Madness was a resounding success. I was busy from 6:30 right through to 11:45, said Cathy Spicer of Side Street. Last year was our best one ever but this one was pretty close. It was a huge success. We sure can't complain about the business. It was a favorable night, said Howard Wright, manager of the Olds Coop. We were very pleased and we hope the people were equalled last year's record Midnight Madness. Home Hardware reported 250 to 300 people through their tills for the six hour sale, but what they spent was a little higher, said the store's assistant manager. We did have a fairly good turnout, said Terry Craven. Almost every single retail store in Olds was open until midnight for the madness sale Friday and all surveyed said they would gladly participate in another Midnight Madness next year. Don't be afraid to go out on a limb. That's where the fruit cuihati'Ji: tSmi gt;,. Almost every store surveyed by the Gazette reported the number of shoppers Friday SUNDRE BERGEN .H Show-2:00 P.M.
