C. BROWER. Manacenr A LAST WORD < Act to be voted upon by the electors on February 27th was prepared ~ by a committee of farmers represent- ing the old Hail Insurance District and the U. F. A. The committee took ‘advice and assistance from wherever it could be obtained’ and they believe the Act _provides the very best. plan of Hail Insurance that has been offered: to the farmers of Alberta. It has-been enthusiast- proved by the annual convention of: vention held in Calgary during this month, and. deserves: the careful consideration of every farmer. must be approved by the eleetors:of Ticts before it . becomes ~ operative: This means that the Hail Insurance and-sound will be entirely in the hands..of /a Board of Dircetors to be elected © by: tne farmers themselves.. This-board thing necessary to carry on the bus-. iness, and for this purpose, to bor- row the mioney required until the premiums are paid. “By this plan all crops of grain, unless withdrawn from’ the’ opera- tion of the Act, are’ automatically insured for $8 00 péracre. Any farmer who wishes, may, on or be- ance to $6 00 per acre, or he. may insure part -of his crop at $8 00, part at $6 00, and withdraw part of it, or he may withdraw all his Jand entirely from the operation of the Act nd carry no insurance. In this case he will, of courge, have no premium to pay and will have-ngth- ing whatever to do with the’ plan until-he applies to be insured whieh he may do at any tine. The Act provides that: the adjast ment ~of Jo-ses must be “made promptly and awards must ‘he paid within thirty days of. the date of adjustment. The premiumewifiehe levied only on” the - crops: -actaally They will be Jevied. -by the board in the fall and will be high enough to pay all the losses in} adminis. surplus. rj plus will ie boitt Lup eraduipbly signtt 4 there is enough to carry on the Wisiniess for one. year. ! Now as to the cost: The experi-| ence of the old. Hail Insurance Dis- trict shows that thix plan of insur= ance was carried on during the past five yearsat an average cost. of 5 2-3 per cent.. Under the proposed new plan, the Hail Insurance © District will be much larger and even better results shouid be obtained. An average cost of 5-2-3 per centaneans: that insurance of $6 per acre would cost 34 cents per acre of crop .in- would cost 45 cents per acre of crop insured The proposed, plan, therefore, ap- pears to be perfectly safe and sound and hax practically all the good features of any. plan of insurance and at a much lexs cost and. easier terms of payment of premium than is obtainable under any other plan: | Ae euch it is recommended to your serious consideration. ‘ OAT=— My Early New Market oats are grown from pure seed, and are free from any’ noxious weeds, wild oats or other grain. _ $1.00 per Phone R 803, W.
