The current policy goes a long way toward resolving many of the pro- blems that plagued the domestic feed industry a few years back with re- gard to the availability and pricina of feed grains in this country,"’ said. “Since the implementa- tion of the policy several practical improvements have taken place on the suggestion of producers and producer organiza- tions. | would like to see this process continue to assure that the best poss- ible feed grains policy is in place at all times.”’ Lang called upon the CFA to take an active role and interest in promoting and encouraging the pol- icy to work or face a situation where because of the resistance of some segments of the industry the policy is dropped and the situation returns to the old ways. which were di- viding the country and resulting in unfair criti- cism of the Canadian Wheat Board. Lang “‘In the absence of any determined interest in the success of the current policy by the CFA | would ask that you again con- sider my previous request to recommend how the question. should be phrased and who in Can- ada should vote in a plebiscite,’’ Lang said. To destroy the policy without a better alter- native and return to the closed system of the past is not an answer to our need and | ask all mem- bers of the CFA to con- sider this in their delibera- tions on the policy,’’ Lang said.
