Weekly News Bulletin Issued by Publicity Commissioner, Government of Alberta, Edmonton Alberta, July 26, 1924 Announcement was made during the past week by Hon. Geo. Hoad- ley, Minister of Agriculture, of a new migrants to Alberta, the details of which he arranged with the Empire Overseas Settlement Board while in England. : The plan involves the sending over of about 150 young Bririshers,- of from 18 to 25 years’ of age, by the Empire_Overseas Settlement Board, | the: transportation costs .of . these young men being borne equally. by that organization and by the Domin- ion Government. These young men will be placed-in-training- at one of Alberta’s unused agricultural schools, where they will spend the fall and winter, studying agricultural methods under Alberta conditions, and under the tutelage of capabie instructors. The Provincial Government and the Settlement Board will share equally in the cost of maintaining the school for this course. - On completion of the course efforts will be made: to place-the—young—men_-in_desirable locations on farms in the province, with the view that they will eventu- ally own their own farms:in Alberta. CO-OPERATIVE POOL _ Negotiations are .under way. at present between the. U.F.A. Central Executive'and the’ Provincial Gov- ernment to form the creation of a province-wide organization’ for- the co-operative marketing of all farm products. The co-operative market- ing committee of the U.F.A, has the matter in hand.
