Alcan pipeline proposal sponsored by Canadian and United States companies. Route was to transport United States' gas from Alaska's North Slope for eventual distribution in the United States, with pipeline to generally parallel the Canada-Alaska Highway. National Energy Board apparently approved Alcan route, but Members of Parliament wanted further study on its potential impact.
