Mr. Pedersen passed away on March 1 in Olds. He was born in Holsbro, @ Denmark on August 1, 1905. He was the seventh born of thirteen children and the size of the family made it necessary for the children to seek their live- lihood on their own. John and his brother Hans emigrated to Canada in 1927 coming to Montreal later homesteading at Athabasca, Alberta. Later John_lived in the Dickson area where he did carpen- try work and ran a shingle mill. In that area he is still remembered as ‘‘Shingle John’’. John did saw mill work in the Sundre area as © well and eventually moved to Olds. On June 7, 1945 he married Daisy Miller, a widow of twelve years who had three children, and they became his family in Canada. x For nineteen years John worked for the county and was always willing to go out of his way to help people and to go the extra mile. It was John’s hope that his work might someday help produce food in countries that were in short supply. He leaves to mourn his wife Daisy, Olds, three step children, Mrs. Illa Loewen, Red Deer, Mrs. Norma Jensen, Olds and Mrs. Frances Helm, Cal- gary, seventeen grand- children, twenty - six great grandchildren. Also surviving are six brothers and sisters in Canada and the U.S. and six more in Denmark. His honesty and con- stant concern for people were a constant reminder of the greatness of His God. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Olds. Pastor Chuck Hazlett offi- ciated and interment fol- lowed . at Hainstock Cemetery. Honorary Pall- bearers for the service were Fred Notley, Ralph Richards, Roy Malmo, Harry Chant, Andy Deer- home and Trevor Morgan. Active Pallbearers were Dave Muir, Michael Helm, Harry Pedersen, Garry Felker, Jim Kil- patrick and Allan Kjors- vik. If friends desire dona- tions may be made to the Canadian Bible Society.
