Decorated for Christmas, the church was established by Archdeacon Cecil Swanson. Archdeacon Swanson, an Anglican priest, served in several Yukon Territory comunities between 1913 and 1918. He was later rector of Metochasin, British Columbia, between 1918-1920; Christ church cathedral, 1920-1922; St. Augustine's, Lethbridge, Alberta, 1922-1932; St. Stephen's, Calgary, Alberta, 1940-1953. Archdeacon of Toronto East and rector, St. Paul's cathedral, Toronto, Ontario, 1953-1960. Retired to Calgary, Alberta in 1960, given Honourary doctorate, University of Calgary, 1972.
