Kennett Irvin Lyle, 1904-1987, was born in Missouri, USA. He moved to Arrowwood, Alberta with his family and farmed. After graduating from the Calgary Normal School, he became a real estate broker in Calgary. He and his brother, Elmer B. Lyle, ran Lyle Brothers Ltd., a real estate firm, from 1929 until 1966 when it was purchased by Royal Trust. He was a founder of the Alberta Real Estate Association, and its first president, 1946-1948. He was president of the Canadian Real Estate Association, 1948-1949, and a Calgary alderman, 1954-1956. Lyle was also instrumental in the establishment of the Calgary Tourist and Convention Bureau.
