Filling horse-drawn water tank from the Oldman River. Alfred Dixon moved from Etobicoke, Ontario to the Fort Macleod area in 1887. He first worked on the Walrond ranch and then ranched with his brother Anthony at Beaver Creek. Late in the 1890s Alfred sold the ranch and bought land in the Olsen Creek district. Around 1900 he supplied Fort Macleod with water, hauling water from the river by tank and delivering it to the local homes and businesses at 50 cents a barrel.
