Stan Slipper, 1890-1982, right, was director and chief geologist of the Canadian Western Natural Gas, Light, Heat and Power Company. He carried out the first mapping of Turner Valley, Wainwright, and numerous other oil and gas areas of Alberta. In 1913, he was in charge of the Federal Geological Survey branch office in Calgary.
