The Calgary Pressed Brick and Sandstone Company was started by Edward Henry Crandell in 1905 at Brickburn, Alberta which was five miles west of Calgary, Alberta. It closed temporarily after the outbreak of the first world war; but was operational again by 1916 and continued until it closed in 1931. The area later became the most westerly point of Edworthy Park in Calgary. Shaganappi Ranch, owned by the Edworthy family, in background. Note the large draught duct kiln in right foreground with drying racks behind it. Sheds at left line the Canadian Pacific Railway track.
