It was built in 1958 for the National System of Baking, a chain of bakeries owned by the Heagle family and headquartered in Calgary until 1974, when the head office moved to Ontario. The building was designed by A.C. Milroy and Associates Consulting Engineers and built by Hornstrom Brothers.
