William Stewart Herron, petroleum pioneer in Turner Valley, Alberta.
William Stewart Herron was born in Gelert, Ontario February 10, 1870. In 1901, he came to western Canada for a visit and bought land in Okotoks, Alberta. He returned to farm in 1904, but moved to Calgary in 1910. He was the pioneer of the Turner Valley oil field in 1911. In conjunction with A.W. Dingman, he organized Calgary Petroleum Products in 1912. He later organized Okalta Oils in 1926 and was president of Okalta Oils, Sanca Mines and Chinook Oils.
