FOR FLIGHT BEING BUILT ts to Make Trip in m 20 to 30 Hours Banker is Interested. (Special Cable to News.) London, Nov. 21. At the close of a flight which Claude Graham White took with Totto 98.8 passen- ger, the ayiator gave out particu- lars as to his plans to fly across the Atlantic. Tt has been my pet scheme for a long time past, he'said, but now Thave completed plans for the ma- chine and commenced to build it. It will be of 1,000-horsepower, with four engines. atid six propellers. Hach engine will be of 250 horsepower and they will, be aoe ane ie independent of o t is to say, if two engines break down, the other two will be quite sufficient to drive the machine. We expect to do the journey from land to land in something between twenty and thir- ty hours, . All depends on tho weather and the course sve take. At present we are undecided wheth- er to go by way of the Azores or across to Newfoundland, but I ex- pect the letter route will be chosen. MAY TRY THIS SUMMER. - The trip is arranged to fake place in the summer, although it is just it until. th autumn. The weather then will. probably be more favor- able; but, whenever we start, I. am reasonably sure of success. Mr, Kahn is taking great interest Jin aviation. His fight by aeroplane was not his first venture into space, for it will be remembered theb some months ago that he was a passenger on the Zeppelin airship during its delights of the aeroplane; swears by the latter. BANKER IS INTERESTED. Describing yesterday's flight, he said that it grew out of a-diseus- ion between him and Mr. Grabam- White as to the possibility of cross: ing the Atlante by. a heavier-than- air machine in'the near future. Mr. Graham-White told him that he be: lieved it conld . be done and, more- over, that he intended having a shot at it himself tpefore long. After some further talk, Mr. Graham- White invited Mr, Kahn to the Ken- yon flying ground to look over some machines there, with the result that the air trip was proposed th . the New York banker. acorpted. Mr. Graham-White s newest bi-plane was brought out, and Mr. Kahn having been-figged up in aviator s clothes, the two got away with a good start. After circling the grounds twice th and was soon lost to sight. Onvhis return, half an hour later, Mr. Kahn said: Tt was a siost Uelightful trip, thoroughly exhiliarating. had been up before in a Zeppelin, and was anxious te compare the two methods of fight. There canbe no doubt that tho. acroplane is the machine of the future. There isa great futuro before. this method of transporta- tion, especially in the case of the hydroplanes. Mr. Graham-White tells me he wants to cross to Ameri- ca in one-and I feel that he can get there; and I believe he can.
