Alexander Fleming of High River area, Alberta.
A native of Carleton, Ontario, Alex 'Mutiny' Fleming joined the North West Mounted Police in 1881. He acted as one of the escorts to the Marquess of Lorne, the Governor-General, on his visit to the west. During the Riel Rebellion he was posted at Duck Lake. From 1906-1908 he ran a livery stable at High River and his own ranch. From 1910-1924 he was vice-president of the George Lane ranching company. He was the official starter for cowboy events at the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede from 1912-1944. Same as na-3627-24.
