George Lane, High River, Alberta.

Lane came to Alberta from Des Moines, Iowa in 1881. In 1882 he brought in cattle to the Bar U ranch, then owned by the Allen family of Montreal, Quebec. Between 1884 and 1900 he worked on the Bar U ranch and built up his own YT horse ranch near Stavely. In 1902, in partnership with three others, Lane purchased the Bar U, which he owned totally by 1920. One of the 'Big Four', George Lane helped to organise the first Calgary Exhibition and Stampede in 1912. Same as NA-3627-30
